Care home residents enjoyed cream tea and a crooner during a Ritz-style afternoon party.

The taste of upper-class relaxation was part of regular entertainment provided for residents at Merlewood Nursing Home, Virginia Water, and involved a pleasant afternoon of cream cakes and scones and sipping tea in the theme of Tea at the Ritz.

A beauty and tanning salon is basking in the glory of receiving one of the top accolades in the beauty industry for the sixth time.

Helius Professional Tanning and Beauty, in Station Parade, Virginia Water, scooped the 2009 Crown Salon status at the 10th annual Guinot Crown Salon Awards, held in London last week.

French skincare manufacturer, Guinot, has 1,600 salons and spas across the UK and Ireland but only 52 met the stringent criteria of exceptionally high customer service and skincare treatment levels to qualify for the awards.
