Christ Church will be hosting a series of events between March 13 and March 21 to explore the meaning of Easter.

Part of the Passion for Life mission, the events, some of which are free, including a big breakfast to kick-off the week, a 'Grill-a-Christian' evening at The Wheatsheaf Pub, a Senior Citizen's lunch, a Royal Holloway UCCF student event and a passion for music evening at the church.

A popular children's entertainer will delight at the Virginia Water Community Centre on Saturday, March 13 at 2pm.

The event, organised by the Virginia Water Community Association will feature entertainer Billy Bonkers as well as free interval refreshments.

Trumps Green Womens' Institute will learn the secrets of handwriting from a talk on Wednesday, February 24.

Mrs S Biddle presents the talk, 'All is revealed in your handwriting' at the Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue, at 7.45pm.

The swinging sixties come to the village with a special night of music and dance on Saturday, November 21 at 8.15pm.

Dancing to the Touchstone Experience is organised by Virginia Water Community Association and includes a cold buffet.

Sixties fancy dress is optional. BYO drinks and glasses.

Hundreds of poppy-wearers observed two-minutes silence at one of the most picturesque memorials in the county for Remembrance Day yesterday (Sunday, November 8).

At 11am, more than two hundred people made no peep as Reveille piped out and filled the grounds of the Royal Air Forces Memorial on Cooper's Hill, Englefield Green, where the names of 20,000 service men who lost their lives fighting for their country are etched on its walls.

The Wonder Years Choir will perform at the Virginia Water Community Centre on Saturday, October 10 at 8pm.

The concert, organised by the Virginia Water Community Association costs £4 for members, £5 for non-members and includes tea and biscuits.

Keeper of the Gardens at Windsor Great Park, Mark Flanagan, has written a book with Tony Kirkham of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew which is published on September 21.

'Wilson's China: A centure on' follows in the footsteps of the great plant hunter and collector Ernest Henry Wilson through China. Wilson introduced more than 1,000 species of exotic plants mainly from China to the west.

The pair retraced several of Wilson's journeys to create a series of 'then and now' images, with 100 years between them, of the remote Sichuan province.

Mark and Tony will be doing a book signing at The Savill Building on October 7 at 2.30pm.

A formal forum to raise community issues will be hosted by Surrey Police at Christ Church on Tuesday, September 17 at 7.15pm.

The meetings held on alternate months at the venue on Christchurch Road are a chance for residents to raise any issues or concerns with their Safer Neighbourhood policing team.

Refreshments will be served from 7pm.

A walk to raise funds for dementia sufferers takes place at Virginia Water Lake on Sunday, September 13 at 11am.

The Memory Walk 2009 has been organised by the Runnymede Alzheimer's Society to raise awareness and remember those who suffered or are suffering from the condition.

Sponsorship is not necessary, just turn up on the day and make a small donation. Meet at the lakeside car park off the A30. For more details call 01932 874060.

More than 60 walkers are expected to take part in a special walk to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.

The Runnymede Memory Walk will take place on Sunday, September 13 at 11am at Virginia Water Lake.

A 'Memory Tree' at the event will give the walkers the opportunity to write down their personal memories, the reasons why they are walking or who they are walking for.
